FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
What is Adil Edge?
Adil Edge is a CPU-first, offline-capable AI runtime family in development for embedded devices, desktop applications and Linux servers.
Is Adil Edge an AI model?
Adil Edge is intended to be a runtime and product family, not a claim that we have trained a new foundation model. Individual configurations may use appropriately licensed small models alongside deterministic components.
What is the difference between Micro, Core and VPS?
Micro targets embedded and Android business devices, Core targets local developer and desktop use, and VPS targets Linux server workloads.
Does it require a GPU?
The architecture is CPU-first. Optional acceleration is a future research direction, not a requirement for the intended base runtime.
Does it work without internet?
Offline operation is a core design objective for approved local features once required assets are installed. Connected host applications may have separate network requirements.
Can it run on a 256 MB device?
A 128–256 MB runtime memory envelope is a research target for selected Micro configurations, not a confirmed supported minimum. Hardware testing will determine the actual requirements.
Can Core run in under 1 GB RAM?
That is a research objective for selected configurations, not a currently certified system requirement.
Is the entire package smaller than 500 MB?
A sub-500 MB Core distribution is a research objective. Final package sizes have not been published.
What platforms are planned?
Linux/VPS and Android/ARM64 are the first priorities. Windows and macOS are secondary. Embedded Linux/ARM is a future hardware-specific direction. iOS is deferred.
Will there be Android and iOS apps?
An Android SDK and demonstration-app path is planned for evaluation. iOS development is not an active priority and has no committed release date.
Is Adil Edge open source?
A public source-licensing decision has not been announced. Dependencies and included model artefacts will be evaluated against their respective licences before distribution.
Will commercial SDK licensing be available?
Commercial and OEM licensing approaches are being researched. No final pricing, entitlement scheme or publicly available licence offering has been announced.
Does Adil Edge train itself on user data?
Uncontrolled on-device training and automatic weight updates are not initial release commitments. Future adaptation is being researched through governed configuration, retrieval and evaluated adapters.
Is Adil Edge already production-ready?
No. The project is in research and engineering validation; public product releases and production requirements have not been confirmed.
When can I download it?
A public release date has not been announced. You can register interest in future development updates or pilot opportunities.
Can I use it for payment authorisation or other sensitive decisions?
Applications must retain control of permissions, policy checks and state-changing actions. Any proposed use in sensitive workflows requires application-level validation and appropriate independent assurance.
How can I participate?
Use the contact page to describe your intended platform, hardware and application requirements. Participation is subject to project readiness and separate agreement.
